Should I feel out of place watching these videos if I’m not Jewish?
– svillethomas (from Youtube on 8-2007)
Absolutely 100% not! Even though some of the food is traditional and uses kosher ingredients and procedures, most of the videos are also of the family favorites. Food is a universal language understood by all for example, watch episode #5 where I make a hamburger for a picnic and episode #17 where I make a fresh fruit salad. As you can see anyone can enjoy my cooking.

Bubbe,
I am just a middle-aged Shiksa living in Portland, Oregon, BUT I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS!!!
I love Yiddish, but it isn’t easy to find someone who really knows their Yiddish. Keep up with your Yiddish Word of the Day. Even though I don’t cook myself, I love watching your cooking. I wish I had your grandson here when I have computer problems. LOL

Hello Bubbe –
I became a Bubbe for the first time 3 years ago. Isabella XXXXXXX makes my heart beat:). Now I find out that I am going to become a Bubbe again two more times!!! I’m thrilled..
I would love to make cookies, cakes and more meals. I’m not a great cook and my mom past away when I was young and I never knew my Bubbe, but now that I found you, I’m thrilled and hope to get a lot of your delicious recipes to make for my grandchildren.
Keep those recipes coming…..
Thank you.

Hello! What a great thing your grandson has thought up! I love your type of cooking and look forward to trying out the recipes. I just saw you on the Evening News tonight, so I know that you are going to be a big celebrity from this day on! Good luck to you and your family and thankyou for being part of something that will remind all people of their own grandmothers. Sincerely, Anne XXXXXX (New Jersey)
I never realized what a need there is for a show like this. We have received so many emails from all over the world similar to yours and it makes me very happy to be able to fill a need I never realized that feelings and memories was so great and meant so much to many, many people.

We saw Bubby on channel 7 news tonight. I thought you were very ingenious to come up with this idea. We lost my mother (Bubby) five years ago and your Bubby reminds me of her in a lot of ways. I enjoyed watched the Jelly Jamies recipe but your bubby didn’t give all the ingredient measurements….

Hi: I lost my ‘Bubbe’ about a year ago, but she was 100 years young. She came from Russia prior to WW1, as a child after her parents were killed. The problem is, your ‘Bubbe’ is the same age as my Mother. My ‘Bubbe’ knew dishes to cook, that no one from here knows and then some. It’s great to see that you appreciate her so much. I was the only one in my family that wrote her name as Bube. I always was joked about it. In 2 weeks, I’m flying out to go see her again at her unveiling. Which fellow Jews know happens about 1 year after you pass on. My Dad died right after she did, so it’s a double visit. But, they’re side by side. Enjoy every minute you have with your ‘Bubbe’, and cherish her unconditional love! The best to you both!

UC2IT, thank you for your interest in our videos. We wish you a coming healthy and happy new year. My background is similar to yours. My grandmother was killed in a pogrom in Russia, and my mother came to America the oldest of 6 children, hoping that she would be able to help her family which never materialized, due to hitler and the second World War.

Dear Avrom and Bubbe, So how great is this kind of Idea ? You two are so cute together, and remind me so much of my own grandmother, Marie, God bless her, who loved her two grandkids more than anyone, ever !  watching your show reminds me of her, and brings joy and sadness to my heart and tears to my eyes. Thanks to the News, that will introduce you to so many new friends.. and spread your good food recipes and humor around the world.. and thanks for inviting us all into your kitchen..and briefly making us part of your own loving family.   Jeff XXXXXXXXXX in Dallas, Texas
Thank you, you make my heart overflowing. This project started just to help my grandson keep in practice after graduating from college. Never did I believe that I would be so welcomed into everyone’s home from all over the world. It is very exciting and I feel good that I can help others with feelings, joy, and memories.

Shalom, shalom, Bubbe-
Oy! What fun to just see you on the news!
My family was always very small and there is no one left now, so I’ve had to resort to cookbooks when there is something I want to cook and I don’t know how. From now on, I’ll check with you first!
You brought a double smile to my face when I saw you (if that is possible) because aside from seeing you cooking, just a few days ago I started a website-
http://YourJewishMother.blogspot.com
I am a novice, but if you know anyone who needs a “Jewish Mother,” tell them to take a look!
Say hi to the “Chalutzim” for me, including your grandson. What a wonderful idea!
All the best,
Mindy

Thank you for posting this!!! There is so much garbage online so it’s GREAT to see YouTube put to good use. Tell Bubbe I hope I’m just like her one day.

Dear Bubbe,
thank you for producing such a great show! You remind me so much of my grandma (I’m 33 and she passed away years ago), and watching your show brings back a lot of great memories of being a kid and watching my grandma and mom make yummy food like matzoh ball soup and blintzes. You are fantastic in front of the camera — Food Network should give you your own show 🙂
Take care,
Lisa
Thank you so much for your compliments. It is unbelievable how many emails I have received similar to yours. They encourage me and inspire me to make more episodes and also feel that I am helpful bringing back happy memories as well as good recipes. As for the Food Network, well you never know. We were on a segment done by Dave Lieberman from Food Network on
his Yahoo food show “In Search of Real Food”

The one thing that I have learned is that if the fans write to the various tv shows then it means much more then it coming from us.
