My Mothers cookbook and recipes were thrown out when she passed away.

Dear Bubbe,

You are the best! My Mothers cookbook and recipes were thrown out when she passed away. I grew up on the fricasse with meat balls, and I never found a recipe to match hers. This is it.

Many thanks! I wish I could cook like you

Dear Bubbe and Avrom,

Thank you, and your cameraperson, for your phenomenal program!

I love your philosophy, your recipes and your techniques along with the explanations. Watching you do it makes it seem possible.

Please could you tell me what it is that you say at the end of the video? It sounds like “Ess and gesunte hage”.

Thanks for everything you do and stand for.

Sincerely,

Sheila XXXXXXXX in NY

In answer to your email,
It is Es Gezunt Hait.

Hello and thank you so much for responding to my YouTube notes (I’m bndlazar)!!! You made my day.

June 22nd, 2008 · No Comments · Emails, YouTube

Hello and thank you so much for responding to my YouTube notes (I’m bndlazar)!!! You made my day.

My husband and I are Jewish Americans living in Krakow, Poland for six months. We came to Poland to do a little ancestry research and ended up staying a while. I had no idea how similar Jewish food and Polish food were!!! Growing up in Arizona without any religion I never understood my mother’s cravings for pickled herring, borscht, blintzes, etc. NOW things are starting to make sense.

Now that I’ve found your wonderful videos I share them with my mom in Arizona through the computer. She loves you as much as I do.

We can’t wait to see more of you!

Darcy XXXXXXX

We have received about 1 thousand emails this past month from all over the globe and we are trying to answer all of them.

My cooking is mostly European, Russian, Poland, etc.

Thank you for your delightful email.

I discovered Feed Me Bubbe via a link to the podcast awards.

June 22nd, 2008 · No Comments · Emails, Endorsements

Hi,

I discovered Feed Me Bubbe via a link to the podcast awards. After viewing an episode (on latkes) I promptly voted (good luck!) but went back to list of episodes. I just want to thank both Bubbe & Avrom for presenting a wonderful three part series on chicken stock. I’ve been wanting to make it for a long time but due to my grandmother’s declining health, she hasn’t been able to clearly articulate the recipe to me. I’m happy to report that I made my first pot of stock (along with matzoball) last weekend and both my husband and 13 month old son loved it! In fact, my little boy grabbed the bowl and tried drinking it all up! He was very upset when I tried explaining that drinking soup from a bowl was poor manners.

In any case, I wanted to thank you for presenting the process in a clear way that I was easily able to follow. I will add this to my quickly growing list of family favorites.

Best wishes,
Lauri XXXXXXXXX

hey – you go girl!!

Bubbe, I am a new and loyal fan of yours – You remind me so much of my mamma and there are very very few who I rank anywhere in that vicinity – not just your cooking but the really important part of all the rest that goes with the cooking – love, respect, healthy mind as well as healthy body and, of course, tradition. Anyhow, have you ever used Egg Beaters instead of eggs or would you recommend that as too much of a compromise to the integrity
of your recipes? Thanks, Bubbe and hey – you go girl!!
Fondly, Barb XXXXXXXX

Thanks so much for taking the time to make this show.

Thanks so much for taking the time to make this show. I do not know how I found it but I love it. Unfortunately my Grandmothers were not big cooks and never shared this style of cooking with me. I have enjoyed trying the dishes and tonight for shabbos dinner I am making the Frikazee planning on serving it to my parents and mother in law. I will keep you posted on the review. I look forward to more episodes and wish you good health and continued success in this endeavor.

Dear Bubbe and Friends,

As a Service Member it’s always so hard to even find other Jews let alone eat with them BUT what I would find helpful is a COOKBOOK!!! Then I can cook everywhere. So please get one so I can buy it. I love the show!

Very Respectfully,

Thank you so much for serving our country.

It was so great to receive your email.

We are planning to publish one however, we have no date at present.
Can you possibly print the recipes that we have done so far on our episodes?

If you need any help on a recipe, send me an email and I will try to help.

Make sure to tell all of the men and women serving with you that Bubbe says SHALOM! and may you have a good and sweet new year.

I have just spent most of this evening watching your videos of “Feed Me Bubbe” on my son’s computer.

Dear Bubbe and Avrom,

I have just spent most of this evening watching your videos of “Feed Me Bubbe” on my son’s computer. (They would take FOREVER to download on my webtv.) What an absolutely delightful and informative cooking show you have. Call me a new fan. You succeeded in making me excited about cooking again. I printed out several of your recipes to make next week. I have my 94 year old Dad living with me, and I think he will REALLY like the Jelly Jammies. (They are not just for kids any more.)

Some Jewish friends of mine have told me they ate jelly doughnuts during Hannukah. One was a friend named Phyllis Braverman. When I asked her why, she said, “Because they were fried in oil.” What that a part of your Hannukah tradition, too? (Phyllis grew up in Brooklyn, New York.) I’m sure there are a lot of variations on the traditions.

Thanks so much for your wonderful show. The videos and the website display great organization, useful information and great good will and cheer.

Best,

(I saw youall on ABC news last night and just HAD to explore the videos on your website.)

I have to say it was a thrill to receive your email. I never thought I would be doing this.  However, there have been so many emails from all over the world. It is unbelievable!

I’m grateful that I can provide a connection of traditional food and tastes, back to so many people.  Please watch our videos, and consider yourself part of the family.

Congratulations on making the ABC national news last night. You are a wonderful inspiration to all of us with more than a few gray hairs.

Congratulations on making the ABC national news last night. You are a wonderful inspiration to all of us with more than a few gray hairs.
Watching how you cook in your own kitchen, using your own equipment and interpreting a sometimes well known recipe ( latkas for example ) gives me an insight into how someone else does it. And it makes me want to put on my apron, dig out the spoons and bowls and turn on that stove ! My sons turned me on to YouTube and I love it. It’s a great medium for everybody and I love the fact that it’s not just a “kid’s” place. With a little common sense and intelligent selection I can enjoy it as much as anyone else half my age.
Thanks for being there.
FR

I appreciate your comments. I enjoy doing the show. If someone would have told me that I would be doing something like this, I would say definitely no way. However after a few episodes, there were so many emails, and requests, that I felt it was bringing back a lot of memories and feelings of so many people. It made me continue.

Oh my goodness Bubbe’s the next Julia Child!

Oh my goodness Bubbe’s the next Julia Child! I adore her! The well seasoned 8×8 pan reminded me of my mother’s and the wonderful things that came out of it! Mazel Tov Bubbe! Have a blessed Passover!

Although I am not Jewish, I will be making your brisket that was featured in Guidepost! Avrom, it’s wonderful that you realize what a treasure your Bubbe is!
