Dear Bubbe, You are the best discovery on the Internet.

Dear Bubbe, You are the best discovery on the Internet.

Thanks to the Wall Street Journal’s article about you, I will now be able to actually cook the delicious food my bubbie used to make, and I am sure you will now be inundated with viewers.

My mother used to make P’tcha or calves feet. I have been looking for it in all the Kosher take-out stores, but it is difficult to find. I know P’tcha may not be a crowd pleaser, but would you consider making it?

Thank you and G-d bless you,

Raizel

I never knew either of my grandmothers,

I never knew either of my grandmothers,

so it’s been wonderful watching and listening to your show.

Thank you.

This is just what I am trying to do, to allow everyone to have the feelings of relating to grandparents.

I too, never knew either of my grandparents as they were in Europe and my parents came to America.

Growing up I envied my friends, especially around the holidays when they had their family get together with their grandparents.

I am hoping that I can fulfill the gap that I had and that others may have as well.

Hi Bubbe, I just saw your website and thought it was great.

Hi Bubbe, I just saw your website and thought it was great.

I was wondering if you could help me out. My mom recently passed away and she used to make a “mock stuffed cabbage” It tasted like the real thing, but it was meatballs and the sauce had cabbage and raisins in it. I found her recipe but it was just a list of ingredients. Would you have this recipe by any chance?
Thanks for your help,
Michelle XXXXXXXXXXXX

What your mother probably did was make the meatballs and instead of rolling them in cabbage,

She cut the cabbage and put everything in the sauce.

Similar to meatballs and spaghetti mixed in a sauce together.

….(Just to tell you: if you watch the look on your grandson’s face when you speak,
–and he’s standing behind you –there is nothing but love and delight on his face. Don’t tell me he’s an actor!)

Thank you for your wonderful email. Avrom may be an actor in other productions but in this one it is all 100% genuine.

Hi Bubbe and Avrom! I stumbled across your podcast totally by accident and boy am I glad I did!

Hi Bubbe and Avrom! I stumbled across your podcast totally by accident and boy am I glad I did!

I think you guys are awesome. I just watched the first 3 episodes today and they were great. I can’t wait to make your sweet and sour meatballs, they looked so delicious.

Bubbe, can I adopt you please? I never knew my grandmother, she died when I was very young, and my mother passed away 6 years ago. My parents were divorced and I was raised by my father and I rarely saw my mother while she was alive. When I watch your show I feel like I am right in your kitchen and that you are the grandma I never had. I think you’re terrific. Avrom you are so lucky to have her. 🙂

Besides enjoying watching the cooking and getting the recipes, (which is what I need because I never learned to cook while I was growing up and I’m trying to make up for it now as a mom), I just love listening to Bubbe and what you have to say about everything. It feels like you’re talking to me and we are having a conversation together, even if it is a one-sided one. 😉 Also, I love your kitchen. It’s so “normal” looking, like what I’d expect my mom’s or grandma’s would look like. It’s not all fancy schmancy like all the cooking shows today have. Please, please, whatever you do to improve your show, do not change the kitchen. Please do not give Bubbe’s kitchen a brand spanking, hi-tech, up-to-date, state of the art, remodel. It wouldn’t feel as cozy and real as it does now if you change it. That’s almost half the charm and appeal of the show for me.

Avrom you should be commended for starting a project with your grandmother. Connection between the generations is something that seems to be almost completely lost these days. And we are all benefiting from your effort.

Thank you so much for this wonderful show. It’s much more than a cooking show. Even though we’ve never met just watching Bubbe cook and share her experiences and watching the two of you interact makes me feel so good. 🙂

Keep up the good work!

Sincerely,
Alie XXXXXXXX

Thank you for your wonderful letter. You have really summed up what we are all about.

And don’t worry Avrom is going to improve productions but the kitchen will never ever be a part of the changes.
